Filling Machine FAQs

Q. What is a liquid filling machine?

A liquid filling machine is specifically designed to handle free-flowing or semi-viscous liquids like water, juice, oils, or syrups. It typically uses gravity, pressure, or pumps to accurately fill containers with minimal spillage and high speed.

Q. What is a depositor machine?

A depositor (or depositing machine) is used mainly for thicker, non-free-flowing products such as batter, dough, creams, or gels. Instead of “pouring,” it deposits precise portions, often with more control over shape and placement.

Q. What is the main difference between a liquid filling machine and a depositor?

The key difference is the type of product they handle:

  • Liquid filling machines are for low- to medium-viscosity fluids that flow easily.
  • Depositors are designed for high-viscosity or semi-solid products that require controlled placement rather than simple pouring.

Q. What are the main types of method of Filling Machines?

There is a range of different types of Filling Machines and depositors using a variety of method

  • Volumetric filling machines us a piston to deliver a measured amount of liquid of fluid
  • Gear Filling Machines rely on positive displacement of the fluid, using gears to pump the fluid. These are highly accurate Filling Machines on the right product.
  • Gravity, Filling Machines rely on a free-flowing liquid. These machines seal the neck of the bottle and fill to a level. If the neck of the bottle is not sealed correctly, this will cause inaccurate fills level
  • Vacuum Filling Machines work by ceiling of the neck of the bottle, pulling a vacuum in the bottle that that is replaced with the liquid to be filled. Any additional fluid is then sucked back in court in a demijohn container the liquid can then be reused.
  • Depositing machines use a shut off valve that can cut through sick products. These machines also use a piston for a Volumetric Filler
  • Flowmeter Filling Machines work on a consistent flow of products and only work with thin viscosity fluids

Q. How does accuracy differ between liquid fillers and depositors?

Both can be highly accurate, but they achieve it differently:

  • Liquid fillers rely on non-return valves that will not seat correctly. Any particles for some viscous products Will cause an inaccuracy in fill volume. volumetric systems, or flow meters.
  • Depositors use piston-driven or servo-controlled systems to precisely portion thicker materials, often with better control for small or shaped deposits.
